Characteristics of unintentional injuries in hospitalised children and adolescents - national retrospective study

Introduction/Objective. Unintentional injuries is a global health issue among children and adolescents. The aim of this study was to examine the characteristics unintentional divided according different age groups sex adolescents who have been hospitalized in public hospitals Republic Srpska, Bosnia Herzegovina. Methods. A retrospective analysis e-base Agency for Certification, Accreditation Health Care Quality Improvement Srpska data were collected from 10 patients aged ? 19 years, period January 2018 December 2020. Results. identified 1336 injuries, most whom boys (67.4%). Falls frequent cause hospitalization all categories (aged 1 (70.6%), 1?4 (59.1%), 5?9 (68.5%)) 10?14 (64.1%), while road traffic leading 15?19 (62.6%). injury significantly related (p < 0.001) 0.05) groups. According nature relation area body, head (41.1%), caused by accidents falls. Conclusion. Since falls causes hospitalization, preventive measures should be taken reduce frequency these injuries.
